Hypnotic Marketing Genius And How To Think Before You Place Ads

by: Dustin Callahan How do you write ad copy (or even just a simple classified ad) whereby on one piece of paper sits enough sales psychology to fill up a football stadium? The Thinking Behind The Words In fact, what is on that piece of paper, posing as an advertisement, was so much sales psychology that it induced 100's of people to send you money? Or, to be more "professional," to buy whatever it was you were selling. How would that work? I Think For The Reader How do you write in such a way that the people would not only believe what you were saying, but they would believe you to such an extreme level, that they would actually get excited enough to send you their MONEY? How do you do that? What would you say? It's called "Cognitive Intuition" How do you "write" ad copy in such a way that is actually induces absolute strangers, who are mesmerized by the words you write, to buy whatever you are selling? Yes. There is a formula. Now listen up. Because this is important. What follows is a very brief four pages of HOW people are CODED. The Genetic Code Yes, I am saying that we are all CODED genetically the same way. So much so in fact, that once you know the formula of the "genetic code," you will virtually know how to write in such a way that people's reactions to what you will write are PREDICTABLE! What I am saying is that people are predictable. But enough "talk." Let me prove to you what I mean. From my course, "The Cash Flow Recruiting Machine!" All humans are genetically coded the same way. This we know for sure about people: People are drawn to blood and decay faster than they are good news. I Am Negative The headlines in my ads are negative. Show people a negative and they seek to survive the negative by learning about it. People study my ads like they do the six O'clock news. Why? To avoid MORE PAIN possibly tomorrow! "Where's the beef?" That was a negative ad from Wendy's. "Don't leave home without it!" the AMEX TV commercials are totally negative. They show people having a HARD TIME when they lose their luggage and clothes when they travel. But, if you have American Express (solution) you are saved! Have you ever noticed how cars on the highway will come to a stop just to see dead people that have crashed their cars? Perverse for sure. It's also how people are. Isn't it? The first column on the left of each of my ads always gets the reader to nod their heads and say, "this guy Joe is talking about me". I accomplish that by being the reader. When you look at the left column of my full page ads notice how I am identifying with every Networker's worst dreams. Things I KNOW they have felt before. About recruiting in MLM. When you watch the SOPRANOS on HBO (you Do watch that don't you!) have you ever wondered what the "big deal" is and why everyone in America is ga-ga over this "Mafia" TV show? Here's one answer. It has to do with RAPPORT. The appeal is that when you watch the SOPRANOS you are watching yourself. Can People Relate To a Sociopath? We all are like Tony (the lead and also a killer). And the appeal is how "normal" Tony is. He is an "everyman." He is also a murderer. And as people watch it they subconsciously get a thrill by being so much like someone they are so opposite of. In your ads, if the reader can not relate to you or what you are selling they won't trade their money with you. Watch the SOPRANOS to see what I mean. Sundays @ 9. People will do more to avoid pain than they will to gain pleasure. Based on this fact about people I do NOT advertise pleasure. Thus, I do NOT advertise MLM products or highlights any MLM company. Because I know the genetic code of people, I gain their attention by identifying and highlighting their pain. Survival Mechanism Thus, because I write about better SURVIVAL techniques in MLM, readers will STUDY my ad copy before they will read traditional "company" (vanity) advertising. Based on people's preconditioned disposition, (they avoid pain) people have NO CHOICE but to read my ads. Because we are built to avoid pain and discomfort. Any good ad solves a problem and HIGHLIGHTS the anguish and pain the reader is presently experiencing. Read the left column of my "bag ad" again. The left column is all rapport building and about shared anguish. People will avoid humiliation and rejection at almost any cost. I Sell Solutions: My job is easy because I sell SOLUTIONS. The middle column of all of my full page ads shows the SOLUTION to whatever pain I identified on the far left column. Thus, if what I am selling will erase people's predictable. Embarrassment or perceived anguish (ever try enrolling someone for instance?) people tend to give me money in their own attempt to SOLVE THEIR ANGUISH. People buy through emotional impulse before they begin to sort information logically. Marketing Hypnotism It's easier to tap into people's subconscious when they hear your voice but they can not see the face who is speaking. That's is WHY all hypnotist and Doctors ask you to CLOSE your eyes from time to time. Listening to someone's VOICE (just their voice) can by very hypnotic. Which gives the speaker (me) a chance to sell and re-sell and re-sell the person. Lesson: I always list a 24 hour recorded message in my ads: Sensory Acuity I do this to take people who read my ads from VISUAL to AUDIBLE. These voice-mail Tel-a-seminars introduce an alternate way for them to grasp my message and to feel the offer. People hate to be wrong. This is why I use additional links of information in my ad copy. Such as my web-site or a fax-on-demand or my Tel-a-seminars. I do this because I know people. And people can not RESIST the temptation to "challenge" their own belief in what they just read (remember, people HATE to be wrong), so they will go through all of the INFORMATION ports for one reason. TO VALIDATE themselves. Plus, before people send me money from the ads that I place they feel COMPELLED to hear my VOICE and to see how I sound and to see if they have made a WRONG decision. Not only that, but by adding a QUICK LINK (fax-on-demand, voice-mail and web site) system to ANY of your ads, you take the reader into multiple sensory perceptions (sight, sound and touch) regarding your sales message and (USP) your unique selling proposition. Bind someone emotionally and give them ownership and they almost can never give it back. When you hear my Tel-a-seminars (15-30 recorded Tel-a-seminars) I do NOT sell anybody. Instead, I induce OWNERSHIP by teaching and exposing what I know. What this does is give OWNERSHIP to the listener. So when you hear and then you learn parts of my system via the recorded (sales pitch) Tel-a-seminar people THINK to themselves, "I have to buy Dustin's system so I can USE what Dustin just gave (taught) me." Plus, when you GIVE VALUE people will usually feel compelled (law of reciprocity) to buy from you AFTER you give them value and teach them USEABLE information. HOPE this is CHANGING your world, (and how you market!)

Pay Per Click Advertising To Earn Money At Home

by: Clinton Douglas IV An internet affiliate program - like the one offered by Click Booth - makes it easy to earn money at home. For those who work from home online, internet affiliate programs are an ideal solution for making money, at least once they know of the tools that are available to them and know how to use those tools effectively. Pay per click advertising is one of the most effective tools for those looking to earn money online. For the sake of simplicity, let's focus on Google's Adwords program in this article - even though Yahoo! Search Marketing and MSN's AdCenter also deserve a second look. Why focus on Google? Simply put, Google is one of the most popular search engines (if not the most popular search engine) for finding things online; Adwords advertisements come up when people search for information. You've probably seen ads that others have placed through Adwords when you've searched on Google. At the top of the results listings and in a column on the right hand side of the screen are "Sponsored Ads." With pay per click advertising, the ads that are shown are selected based on a bidding system. Businesses - like your internet affiliate home based business - bid on their preferred keywords. If you chose to promote a home security system with Click Booth, for example, you would want to focus on such keywords as "home alarms," "home security system," the specific name of the system or other terms that you believe internet users would use when they were looking for information about those products and services. Then you would focus on developing a budget for how much you could spend each time someone clicked on one of your ads. Those businesses that are willing to make a high bid for a specific keyword as well as those advertisers that have a consistently high click through rate on their ads will find that the ads they've placed are listed in the top positions. A word of caution: know, watch and stick to your budget to be sure that you're making more than you are spending so that your home business turns a profit. If using Adwords to promote your Click Booth affiliate products and services sounds like a good idea to you, the next thing that you'll want to do is to register for an account. When you register, focus on which countries you want your ad to be shown in, what language your ads will be written in, and have a sense of which keywords you'll be using. In other words, if you're promoting a product that's only available in the US, you'll want to limit your ad so that you're not charged if someone from Germany clicks through. Designing the ad that will help you to earn money at home is the thing that may take a bit of work. It's not that Adwords ads are hard to write, it's just that you will only have a 25 character title and two 35 character lines of text with which to catch and hold a person's attention. The final component of your ad, of course, is the link - and you should be careful to make sure that the page the searcher lands on provides all of the information that he or she is looking for. While there is some work involved in generating a pay per click campaign, many find that the business opportunities far outweigh the risks.

Internet Marketing Glossary

by: Scott Lindsay The Internet has facilitated the need for an entirely new glossary that deals with all aspects of an online environment. This includes terms related to online marketing. While this is not a comprehensive list I’d like to take a look at a few terms and try to explain them in lay terms. SEO – These three letters are the abbreviated form of Search Engine Optimization. This term represents strategies to develop a website using proven methods to enhance your placement in search engines. Since most people begin looking for something by consulting a search engine it makes sense to work to impress the search engines in order to gain improved traffic to your website. Blogging – This is a tool that allows business owners and individuals to construct a series of thoughts that can be accessed by web users. The content is generally themed and will also have something to do with your business. Most blogs are located on a social media site, but they can also be placed on your primary business site. Social Media – This is typically used to describe sites that cater to networking objectives of both individuals and businesses. These sites are typically developed to include a variety of tools in one web application. In most cases there may be groups, friends, blogs, photos and applicable links for visitors to peruse. RSS – Another abbreviation that stands for Real Simple Syndication. This tool allows web users to more easily locate valued material and have it downloaded to a specific software application that lets them access the information they want without the need of an intensive web search. PPC – Three more letters that represent Pay Per Click. This is an advertising system that lets you target customers with a very specific interest in the keywords selected by the individual purchasing the ad. These ads show up on sites across the web and can improve your total number of site visitors. Sites that host these ads do so because they receive revenue from every ad ‘click’ generated from their site. Forums – These are essentially mini town hall meetings. Visitors to a forum can voice opinions and read the opinions of others. In many cases individuals can and do use forums to share information about their businesses. This often happens in a location of a member’s ‘control panel’ called the signature line. Autoresponders – This tool can allow a more streamlined approach to post purchase marketing, When a customer completes a transaction online autoresponder software allows an immediate reply alerting them that the transaction has been accepted. Autoresponders can also allow you to send additional marketing information and ezines. Ezines – This is an online version of a magazine. It has many of the same departments you would expect from a magazine and it can be a potent tool in marketing the general ideas and themes of your business. Hopefully this little list of online marketing terms may help you grasp the potential in online business. I also hope it encourages you to look a little deeper into each of these marketing techniques to leverage improved online performance.

You can use features on your website such as visitor polls, online surveys and your website statistics to find out what your customers like more and how they feel about certain aspects of your business to determine how you can improve your product and the way you do business. If you're an internet business owner who designed your business website using HTML programming, otherwise known as hypertext markup language, you may be aware of the importance of meta tags. There are free search engine tools and meta tag generators for website designers and internet business owners wanting to save money while marketing their website. Conflict Management Tips for Managers

by: Daryl Cowie Everyone has conflicts with other people from time to time; at work, at home, with our friends. Any time we spend a lot of time with people, eventually we bash heads. With our good friends we work through it. With people we dislike, we often just walk away. But when the conflict happens at work, the walk away option is suddenly taken away. Of course you can walk away from the immediate situation, but the option to never work it out is not a realistic one. So when conflict arises, take a deep breath, and start your way down these five steps to conflict resolution. 1. Look at your own behavior. The first thing you need to do is take a deep breath and look at your own behavior. We live in a victim culture, and have a tendency to believe it is always the other persons fault. If we slip and fall it’s because someone didn't clean their sidewalk, if we burn ourselves with our coffee it's because the restaurant made it too hot, if we hit another car from behind it's because they braked or switched lanes too quickly. It's never because we were not careful. Unfortunately this same mentality carries over to the workplace. Most of us too quickly place the blame on everyone and everything else before admitting that we also have a part in where we are and what we are doing when bad things happen. If fact we've gone so far down this path that many managers believe you should never admit you were wrong in a work environment. So before you get too hard on the other person, take a look at yourself and think about how you could have approached the situation differently in the first place. Look at the situation from the other person's point of view before you pass judgment. 2. Talk to the person first Assuming you have taken an honest look at your part in the conflict, and still feel the other person is at least partly to blame. Go talk to them. I know it sounds simple, but most conflicts can be resolved this way. Unfortunately what many people do instead is go complain to their co-workers instead. They tell everyone but the person they have the problem with all about it. When the person finally finds out you have a problem with them it's through the grapevine, and now the situation is a lot bigger and harder to resolve than it ever needed to be. If you talk to the person you have issue with before you talk to everyone else it is a lot easier to resolve the situation. Ninety percent of the time, this is all the conflict resolution you need and you can forget the other steps. If this doesn’t work the first time, don’t despair. Give it a day to cool and try again. This second attempt shows the other person that this is important you and you want to work it out. Try talking to the person at least two times before you run to their manager. 3. Talk to their manager If you've tried unsuccessfully to resolve the issue between the two of you, then it's time to bring it to their manager. Part of a manager's job is to resolve contentious issues between people. Often, just notifying their manager that you have a problem is enough to solve the problem. This lets people know that you really have a problem with the situation and are determined to follow through to get a resolution. Be sure that you've honestly tried talking to the person at least twice before you involve their manager. The biggest mistake people make when bringing in people's managers, especially in the email age, is to "run to mommy" too soon. Yes, managers are there to help you resolve things, but you are also grown-ups in a work environment, not children in a daycare. There are few things worse for a manager than high maintenance employees who need their help with everything. If you can tell their manager that you tried talking to the person first, they will be more inclined to listen to your story, and offer some assistance. If you run to them too soon, they'll probably just tell you to work it out amongst yourselves. 4. Talk to your manager If you've tried talking to the other person, and to their manager and still haven't come to any resolution you are probably getting frustrated. This is where your manager comes in. First of all, you have the right to complain about a situation to your manager. It's part of what they are there for. Second of all, if you don’t talk to someone on your side about it, you'll end up complaining about it to your team. If you are a manager yourself, it is important to remember that you always complain up, not down. It's okay to discuss your grievances with your manager. It is not okay to complain about the business and any of its people to your team. Part of your responsibility is to represent your company to your team in the best possible light. If the boss is complaining about a situation, things will deteriorate quickly. After talking to your manager, you need to accept the resolution given. If they choose not to resolve it to your liking, that is their decision and you need to respect it. In all but the most severe situations, this is where it should stop. We are all grown-ups here, and sometimes we simply need to accept that we don’t always get everything our own way. 5. Talk to HR In most situations, you should not need to take issues to your Human Resources team. Although they encourage you to come and talk to them, there are implications of bringing items to this team. Items brought to HR become a matter of permanent record. The record will show that you are a complainer, and that the other person is being complained about. They may not write every issue up and put it in the filing cabinet (although you may be surprised at how often they do), but it will still be in the permanent record of their brain. The next time they sit down to advise on employee raises and promotions with senior management your behavior and complaint pattern will impact their decisions. If the issue is with your manager, go ahead and take it to HR. If it's about anything else consider discussing it with your manager before taking it to HR. They should be trained when to send you to human resources and when to deal with the situation more privately. Summary In general, there are simple steps people can use to work out conflicts between them. Start by looking at yourself and at the issue from the other person's perspective. Then take it through the normal mode of escalation. Most conflicts can be resolved one on one, so always go talk to the person you have a problem with before you go to their manager or your manager. At the end of the day you should always be prepared to accept that things may not get worked out the way you want them to. Do what you can to make your case, and then respect the decision of you management team.

The Eternal Principles for Creating Luxury Brands

by: Dan Herman By definition, a luxury brand is an outstanding brand, justifiably priced highly and destined, at least primarily, to a select group of the social-economic elite. Luxury is not about unattainability though. After all, you cannot profit from consumers that cannot buy your brand. However, luxury is about the consumer outstretching herself a bit to buy something extraordinary but rather expensive for her financial ability. When you are used to driving a BMW 760 (price tag: over 85,000 Euros), it is no longer a luxury for you, although you might be pleasantly aware that it is for many. Alternatively, paying 115,000 Euros for a Maserati Quattroporte Executive GT Automatic – will probably be more of luxury to you. Before entering a deeper discussion of luxury I think it will be good to acknowledge two basic facts: 1. Luxury is relative. One man's luxury is often another's (usually richer) everyday lifestyle. 2. The standard of luxury is mutable. Today's luxury is often tomorrow's commonly expected standard. Luxury brands are under a constant pressure from non-luxury brands trying to offer a similar value for less, thus eroding the status of luxury. Much has been said lately about the changing nature of luxury these days. While some of the proclaimed changes are no more than the result of historical myopia, certain developments are worth noting. 1. There are now more layers of luxury than ever before to match new levels of affluence. More billionaires, more multi-millionaires, more millionaires, more super affluents (annual income over $150K), affluents (annual income over $100K), and near affluents (annual income over $75K). A Toyota Camry (around $25K) is considered a luxury car at some level of affluence, at a higher level it's BMW 7 Series (around $115K), at yet a higher one it's Maybach 62 (around $375K). 2. Some of the luxury buyers are now somewhat less interested in purchasing uniform symbols of status / identity and they opt for developing an individual style and expressing themselves in original ways. The tension between the traditional (more safely genuine luxury) and the innovative has always burgeoned forth luxury. Currently, luxury leans more towards the innovative than the traditional. 3. There are more "out of class" purchases now, both upwards and downwards. The wealthy feel no obligation to always buy expansive (actually, affluents typically look for the best deal on whatever they want to buy, no matter how extravagant). The no so wealthy have also developed an appetite for luxury when and where they can afford it. 4. There's a trend towards spending more on luxury experiences rather than goods, at least amongst wealthy Americans. This trend is stronger among seasoned affluents who already know that the attraction of objects wears out while cherished experiences just get better with time as they are remembered, told and re-told. 5. There are more luxury hits now and fewer classics. Luxury used to be defined in the tradition-driven past by classics. The novelty-driven present, that is evident in the non-luxury sectors as well, turns the success of luxury brands of the day into sweet but short-lived. The unchanging nature of luxury Despite all these significant developments, the nature of luxury has remained unchanged in essence. People buy luxury brands in order to: 1. Feel special and apart from the crowd. 2. Feel superior and privileged. 3. Feel of value and importance. 4. Exercise ability and freedom ("I can afford it", "I can do that"). 5. Reward themselves for efforts and achievements. 6. Console one and recuperate from a setback or misfortune. 7. Signal status and command acknowledgement and respect. 8. Demonstrate refinement, connoisseurship and /or perfectionism. 9. Delight the senses, experience pleasant sensations and feelings or create an infrastructure for future favorable experiences. 10. Participate in a certain group and lifestyle. 11. Signal affiliation and belonging. 12. Remind oneself of one's "real" (aspired?) identity. 13. Enflame hope and mobilize motivation and energy. 14. Indulge and pamper oneself, take care of oneself. 15. Feel loved, taken care of and even spoiled. 16. Show feelings of gratitude, admiration or great affection. Luxury brands are specifically designated to serve as means for consumers to fulfill one ore more of these tasks. Here are the ten eternal principles for developing and managing a luxury brand: 1. A luxury brand is first and foremost a product and/or service of superior quality (a quality gap from competitors is recommended but not mandatory). 2. The products and services are not designed and planned according to consumer tastes and expectations, even though they appeal and cater to sometimes-hidden deep-routed desires. A luxury brand sets its own standards and does not adhere to fashions. There is an air of leadership to it; it is exceptional, unique, original, artistic-creative, surprising, and novel (but never peculiar in a ridiculous or potentially repelling manner). 3. A luxury brand's most important value lies beyond the core product function or practicality. 4. Luxury brands have something extravagant / excessive / redundant and overly generous about them. Something that is clearly not necessary: the use of unjustifiably expensive materials, performance that is far beyond all needs and requirements, an exaggerated level of service, … 5. A luxury brand always expresses zealousness for quality, highly held values or even an ideology, a distinctive culture, together with sense of hedonism, passion for life, and a free spirit. 6. A luxury brand will always be linked with the circle of those who "run the world" at that certain period of time – and with the success symbols of the time. 7. Behind a luxury brand there are often legends of eccentric genius creators, mysterious production processes, secret formulas, exceptional preparations etc'. 8. A luxury brand is never managed in a democratic way, but rather with authority or even with dictatorship, by a genius creator or by an inspired leader who demonstrates, inside and out, a strong passion for the product and pedantry for every small detail. 9. A luxury brand must be rare or difficult to reach in some way. The awareness to the brand and the desire for it sometimes wide-ranged (while the numbers of buyers has to be limited) and other times restricted to a few that are in-the-know. Even the buyers themselves, must not be inclined / capable to purchase the luxury brand too often. 10. Luxury brand consumers expect to be distinguished from all others, and to be protected from them (the No-Mix principle). At the same time, they expect a special intimacy between them and the company and its managers, as well as flexibility regarding rules that are afflicted on others.

The Strategy Is the Brand

by: Dan Herman About 95% of what executives in competing companies do is pretty much the same all around. This is good management. If you are CEO'ing a wireless communication services provider, you strive to put up an advanced technological infrastructure with a promising future, cool end-user phones, other devices and accessories, a great service system and competitive prices. Well, this is precisely where your competitors put their efforts as well. The 5% (give or take) that you do differently constitutes your strategy. The CEO of Southwest Airlines, the revolutionary domestic American airline, most of the time does exactly what her colleagues do. But her firm offers Ticketless travel, and serves meals in the airport during waits, and not on the plane. Doing well what you are supposed to be doing - is a prerequisite for competing. It is definitely not a strategy. Being better - is a deserving effort, yet it is not a strategy either, especially not in the long run. How, then, are you supposed to compete? Well, you could offer your clients more than what your competition offers, for a higher price, for the same price, for a lower price, or - offer them less value for a lower price. All of these options can give you an edge, but usually not for long. You could also offer something different than what your competition does. You can cater to a need not formerly satisfied by your category. Nokia, for example, did just that when it decided to treat cellphones as fashion accessories and later as entertainment devices. Even this approach could not be considered as an insurance policy. There are no insurance policies in the world of business. But, if it is difficult or impossible to imitate, or it is something not likely to be imitated by your competition - then you might just have created for yourself a mini-monopoly of your own. Well, this is surely an accomplishment that should not be underestimated in a competitive market. So, what really is a strategy? By definition, a strategy is the way by which you are planning to obtain your goals. In a competitive environment, your goal is that the consumer will prefer you to your competition. That is why the strategy is, in fact, the way by which you plan to achieve an advantage over your rivals - in the eyes of your consumers. Almost always, preference can be achieved only by differentiation, by either doing something other than what your competitors are doing or by doing things in a markedly dissimilar manner. There are three types of differentiations and only one of them constitutes a strategy (or strategic differentiation). The transient differentiation is often achieved by promotional activities, such as a big sale. The circumstantial differentiation consists of things like a historical monopoly, or some kind of personal connection between the consumer and someone in the firm, or a convenient store location etc'. However, the differentiation we want to focus on is the strategic differentiation, such that provides a long lasting, circumstance-crossing advantage. Is differentiation absolutely necessary? In any case where the consumer must choose between options - the answer is definitely yes. Why? Because the consumer chooses between alternatives on the basis of the differences as he or she perceives. Zoom-in on that sentence for a second. Do not fall into the most common trap of all: the consumer makes choices according to his perception of differences between alternatives, and not on the basis of what he values most in a product of that kind. Competitive strategy is always a simultaneous answer to two questions. The first one is: in which consumer group do you identify a potential for buying your product? By 'group' I do not mean necessarily shared socio-economic and demographic characteristics or even a similarity in personality or life style. What I mean is that they have in common some factor, enabling you to make them an offer, which will be more attractive to them than the options they already have, or at least a refreshingly new one. The second question is: what could you offer them that would help you realize that potential? The goal is not to reach a consensus, nor is it to be OK by everyone. Experience has taught us that the key is to make a specific group of consumers, even a small one, think that you are irreplaceable. They will act as your success engine, even amongst consumers who are not as definite in their attitudes. BMW fans do not believe that Mercedes is a bad car; it's just that it is not a BMW. For them, Mercedes is simply incomparable to BMW. That's how Apple fans feel about IBM. What has all this to do with branding? A brand is the consumer's anticipation for a unique and defined experience, or for a certain unique benefit obtainable solely through consuming/owning a specific product/service manufactured/offered by a specific company. Thus, the anticipation from a trip to Paris would be to experience a romantic vacation. The anticipation from Ikea would be "state of the art design at a reasonable price". It is fair to say that a brand is really a brand only when there exists, among its consumers, such anticipation. If this anticipation is both exclusive and attractive, you might say that it is a strong brand. A familiar name or logo - do not suffice to make for a strong brand. This consumer anticipation is evoked and upheld by the marketer's consistent execution of a business concept providing the consumer with a unique benefit or with a unique/novel way to deliver a benefit. This concept is the brand strategy, its promise and its commitment to its target consumers. The "third place", the neighborhood place you frequent in between work and home offered by Starbucks - is a brand strategy. But, wait a minute! It is also the differentiation - the competitive strategy itself! These ARE the 5% that executives do differently in order to gain an advantage. This is why the brand IS the strategy. Or more accurately, the brand strategy is the translation of the competitive strategy into a language of promises made to the consumer. The brand's role in the realm of marketing has changed dramatically during the past decade. Today, brand building no longer constitutes a mere manipulation of the consumer's perceptions and desires, but it is a creation of a system that on the one-hand makes promises and arouses anticipations, while on the other-hand it delivers and realizes the promises that it makes.

Management Tip: Quit Working For Your Boss

by: Daryl Cowie As a manager do you know who you really work for? I don't mean the person who signs your paycheck or does your annual review. I mean day by day, hour by hour, who are you working for? If you say it's your customers, that's great you've been paying attention in marketing class. Ultimately everyone is working for the customer, but is that really who you work for on a daily basis? Do you personally take their orders? Do you personally answer the support calls? Do you get in the truck and drive your product over to the customer to help them unload and get it ready to use? If you are a manager I truly hope this is not what you come to work to do. These are the things your team is there to do. You may need to pitch in from time to time, but that's not what managers are primarily there to do. If you say it's your supervisor, well I'm sure they will be happy to hear that. Your supervisor should be the one to define your purpose in the organization and help give you direction. So you could say the work you do on a daily or hourly basis is work for your supervisor. But is that really who you spend the bulk of your time trying to help? I hope not. Let's look at the activities good managers spend their time on. Employee development, process optimization, cost control. You make sure your people know what needs to be done and are working on the right things. You make sure your people have the tools they need to get the job done effectively and efficiently. You make sure your people get to work in a safe and respectful environment. You make sure your people get the training they need to be effective and advance. You look for ways to make your team as effective as possible. You help your people become the best they can be. You help your team become the best it can be. The bulk of the work you do (or should be doing) is for your team. You work for your team. So as a manager forget the idea that everyone is working for you. That thinking leads you down the path to ego and conflict. Your team is working to get things done for the customer. You, as their manager, are working for your team to get them everything they need to be effective in serving your customers. The best, most highly-valued managers alive are the ones out there working for their teams and giving them everything they need to succeed. The more people you manage, the more people you are working for, not the other way around. A bigger team doesn't take away your work, it increases it. So the next time you draw your team organization chart, flip it upside down with your CEO at the bottom, you somewhere in the middle, and the people who actually come in contact with the customer on a daily or hourly basis at the top where they belong. The goal of a great manager is to create the best team of people at the top of this upside down pyramid serving the customer.

All You Need To Know About Pay Per Click Advertising

by: Derek Rogers What is Pay Per Click Advertising? It is just as it sounds. You place an advertisement, usually text or graphic, and you pay each time someone clicks that advertisement. Sounds simple enough right? Though simple, it is a very powerful form of advertising that in many cases makes more sense than other methods of advertisement. How does Pay Per Click Advertising work and why is it the best choice for your business? That is a good question, let's have a look. Targeted Audience With Pay Per Click advertising, also known as PPC, you have the ability to target your unique audience. Sure, you have other methods of advertisement that may target a portion of your customer base, but with PPC, you have a more defined method of targeting. You target your specific customer base with solid keywords. These keywords are crucial to your advertisement. If you operate a chocolate business, you might use keywords such as chocolate, chocolate candy, candy, gourmet chocolate, and the list could actually continue to grow. However, what makes PPC so useful is that it incorporates these keywords to make it work for you. Your pay per click advertising will not show up until a user searches for your keyword terms. The next way that PPC works best for businesses is that it works well within your budget. Costs and Budgets The great thing about pay per click advertising is that it is designed to work within any budget. With many sites that promote PPC advertising, you have the ability to define just how much you are willing to pay. However, it is important to note that you will likely be in competition with other businesses, depending on your keyword. The more you pay per click the higher you will be on the search engine results; this is of course dependent upon your competitors and what they bid to pay as well. As your pay per click campaign goes along, you will have the ability to monitor your campaign. If at any time you feel that your specific campaign is not working as well for your business as you had hoped, you can change it, add another, or delete the campaign as you see fit. What makes pay per click advertising so appealing is that you are only charged when someone clicks on your advertisement, hence the name pay per click. With other advertising methods, you are charged when your advertisement is displayed or rotated. With PPC, you pay only when a potential customer clicks on the advertisement to visit your website. This is a great cost efficient method of advertisement. Just Works Better Pay per click advertising just works better because you know, if you have chosen the right keywords, that when someone clicks on your ad to visit your site, that they are doing so because they are truly interested in what you have to offer via their search terms. This means that each and every person that clicks on your advertisement is a targeted potential customer, which means more likelihood for a sale or membership.

How Does Internet Marketing Work?

by: Tsuyoshi Suzuki Introduction Internet marketing is a component of electronic commerce. Internet marketing is by far the fastest growing advertising method for all companies in this day and age. Internet marketing is about people knowing each others interests, values and preferences. Internet marketing is becoming one of the highest return-on-the-investment strategies these days. Engine For the most effective Internet marketing, you'll want to make sure your site is listed in the following search engines and directories:DMOZ. What I can't emphasize enough is that you take the time to find the right search engine submission category, and if your business is regional or local, make sure you submit there instead of the main areas. Also be sure to read the search engine submission guidelines carefully. If after a few months you find that your site is still not listed in the search engines, go through the search engine submission process again. Effective Internet marketing Effective Internet marketing starts with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and is comprised of optimizing the content, specific keywords, and over all design of your web site in order to ensure that your site attains maximum exposure to search engines. Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other major search engines use search engine software known as robots. Once a site is submitted to the search engine, the robots, also often known as search engine crawlers or search engine spiders, analyze the content of a site as well as other search engine criteria such as the accuracy of the website coding (ie: clean coding) to establish content relevance and overall website relevance. Site Internet marketing does not simply mean 'building a website' or 'promoting a website'. Somewhere behind that website is a real organization with real goals. Internet marketing strategy includes all aspects of online advertising products, services, and websites, including search engine marketing, public relations, social media, market research, email marketing, and direct sales. These include e-commerce, where you sell goods directly to consumers or businesses; publishing, where you sell advertising; and lead-based sites, where an organization generates value by getting sales leads from their site. At one time, Internet marketing consisted mostly of having a Web site or placing banner ads on other Web sites. Since most home-based businesses don't have a physical location, a Web site provides an inexpensive means for prospects to get to know what you do or what you sell and can even be a "storefront" for selling goods and services directly. Conclusion Internet marketing is any legal activity intended to bring traffic from a search portal to another Website. Internet marketing is becoming one of the highest return-on-the-investment strategies these days. The decision to use Internet marketing as part of a company's overall marketing strategy is strictly up to the company of course, but as a rule, Internet marketing is becoming an increasingly important part of nearly every company's marketing mix. That's why Internet marketing is all about networking and communication.

7 Killer Ways To Build Traffic For Your Home Business Web Site

By Michael Laleye 1. Trade links with other web sites. They should be related to the subject of your web site. Instead of trading links, you could also trade banner ads, half page ads, classified ads, etc. The best site to trade links with are ussually the ones that rank above you for your websites topic in google. Most web sites have link exchange request pages where you can submit a link and also create a link back to that site. If your link is accepted you can expect to drive some of the traffic from that site to your home business web site. 2. Start an e-zine for your home business web site. When people read each issue they'll be reminded to revisit your website. They'll see your product ad more than just once which will increase your orders. Instead of having somebody click on your web site and leave, you can recycle that visit and continue contact them with your promotions while at the same time giving them something valuable. 3. Trade autoresponder ads with other home business web sites. If both of you send out information with auto-responders just exchange a small classified ad to put at the bottom or top of each other's autoresponder message. 4. Participate on message boards. Post answers to other people's questions, ask questions and post appropriate information. Include your signature file at the end of all your postings with a link to your home business web site. 5. Write articles and submit them to e-zines, web sites and magazines that accept article submissions. Include your business information and web address at the end of the article. This method, of done consistently, over time will have an explosive effect on your traffic and link you to places where people can find your home business web site all over theinternet. 6. Give away an electronic freebie with your ad on it. Allow your visitors to also give the freebie away. This'll increase your ad exposure and attract people to your home business web site at the same time. A free e-book giveaway is a great way to accomplish this. The best freebies answer questions or solves a problem that might visitors have about your home businesses niche. 7. Post your ad on free advertising areas on the internet. You can post it on free classified ad sites, free for all links sites, newsgroups that allow ads, free yellow page directories, etc. Using this method will have interested prospects e-mailing you for more information about your business. It would be a good idea to take this opportunity to have them sign up for your newsletter as well, so that you can continue to reach them and sell to them in the future. Remember, people respond better to advertisments when they view them more than once. How To Boost Traffic To Your Home Business Website

By Michael Laleye Posting messages on online discussion boards is a great way to get free advertising for your home business. When you post a message include your signature file at the end. Your signature file should be no more than 5 to 6 lines. Include an attention-getting sentence why they should visit your web site or e-mail your auto responder. Creating A Signature Line A signature line is a few sentences inserted with every post you make. It is another form of online business card. Most online discussion boards will let you set up a signature of about six lines. Some will allow full messages. Include your URL, a short description, phone number, address, whatever may be relevant. If html formatting is allowed you may want to add a clickable link to your site with the anchor text containing your sites main subject, coupled within a phrase that gets people clicking. Some online discussion boards allow you to leave text and graphic links at the end of your messages. You will get a better click-through rate with links than just a normal signature file. Below are three types of messages you could post to onlinediscussion boards: 1. Informative Comments Post information that would be informative to the people who participate on the discussion board. It could be an article or a study you've completed. Here s where your personal experiences could come in handy. Making real connections and sharing experiences is a great way to earn trust, so that when somebody reading your post clicks through to your signature link trust won't be an issue and they are more receptive to your message. 2. Ask Questions Post a question on the discussion board you would like answered. This will give you a chance to meet other experts and it could lead to a profitable joint venture. 3. Answer Questions Post the answer to another person's question on the discussion board. When you answer questions you will get known as an expert on the subject. Before posting to any online discussion board read the FAQ or rules first. They will tell you what kinds of posts are allowed. Read the board for a few days before posting your message to see what type of messages are being posted. Never post messages on a board that are unrelated to the subject because that could get you banned. Remember also that the habit of posting on message boards can become addictive. The best thing to do is to pick a time during the day that you schedule for this type of advertising. Also choose and how long you want to spend on the message boards, and stick it. Use of this method overtime can produce tons of backlinks to your home business website, resulting in more traffic and more sales.

Internet Marketing And A Future Financial Focus

by: Scott Lindsay One of the prime motivations for Internet marketing is that you don’t want to be in the same place you are right now - in 12 months. In every business the predominant idea is to set goals that help you conduct business smarter, learn lessons faster and bring more business to your site. The problem is many entrepreneurs tend to stay focused on their bottom line and to product fulfillment issues. By doing so they may indeed find themselves in the same place 12 months from now. They may also find their business has declined in total sales revenue. How is that possible? This is an interesting question especially when, from all appearances, the business owner IS paying attention to their business and that the sales are brisk. It can also seem baffling when it appears that the business owner is busier than they have ever been. The problem may be that some of the details of business should be delegated to other employees, especially if the business is of significant size. The sad truth is some business owners are spending too much time in the mailroom and not enough time in long-term strategic planning. Online business grows as new ideas are developed and implemented. It is not unlike an architect spending all his or her time developing the entryway of a new luxury hotel while failing to draw up plans for the rest of the building. It looks nice from the outside, but the inside is in disarray. What this means, in the broadest terms, is that you need to pay attention to all aspects of your online business. If you don’t feel adequate to manage certain aspects of the business then find someone who can. When you neglect certain aspects of your business you will almost always run the risk of a loss of long-term business. You will also be subjected to feast or famine cycles where you may have more work than you can handle for a period of time and not enough work for an equal or greater length of time. It’s a given that you find your business to be an important part of your life. You have invested a lot in the success of your business and that investment is too great to simply allow glaring marketing omissions to go unchallenged. Sometimes business owners adopt an out of sight - out of mind mentality. They avoid those things that are not on their immediate radar. They push back all those things that are not fires to attend only the tyranny of the urgent. Internet marketing is one of the very first things to be cast from view for many businesses. The reason this is true is because the role of marketing seems to have little intrinsic value for those online shops that are currently doing a brisk business. It appears to be a sign that they did everything right and can move on to the role of bean counter. Learn the art of balancing your business interests and include marketing as a prime component for achieving future goals.

Making Money Online With No Start Up Cash - Is It Just A Myth

By David Glen Type in make money online in any search engine and you will literally see millions of search results. Many of these web sites claim that you can start a home based internet business with no start up capital required. If you do have a computer and access to the internet the truth is you can start an online business with no start up cash. However it will take a significant amount of time before you see any real results. This is because the most commonly promoted work from home business idea is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is where you send traffic to a specific web site and are paid a commission if the traffic you send purchases a product or performs a certain action such as signing up for a list or trial. The traffic you send is tracked by what is known as an affiliate link. In theory this sounds simple and is often referred to as ?automated money making?. Starting and affiliate marketing business requires you to firstly find a product or service to promote online. It is possible to find products and web sites to promote through online affiliate retailers such as Clickbank and Commission Junction. Once you have found a product to promote you need to find ways of sending traffic to these sites to generate sales commissions. It?s possible to generate traffic in a number of ways: - Pay per click advertising (This costs money) - Email Marketing (This costs money) - Article Marketing (This is free) - Forum Marketing (This is free) As you can see above there are two ?no start up cash? methods of making money online. Article marketing involves the process of writing an article about a particular web site or product with affiliate links and submitting to a number of different article directories. Forum marketing is simply chatting in forums and referring people to different web sites through your own affiliate link. Both article and forum marketing are great ways to start making money online with no start up cash, but the reality is the majority of income made through affiliate marketing is through pay per click advertising and email marketing as these methods generate far more reliable traffic. In conclusion it is possible to make money online with no start up cash, however you must be aware that article marketing and forum marketing both take time and will not always guarantee you long-term success. Top 5 Reasons to Start Blogging for Your Business Now ?and Why You Shouldn?t Wait

By Patsi Krakoff Unless you?ve just come online and are new to the way business is done on the Internet, you know how important blogs are? or do you? Here are five reasons you should start a blog for your business now ? or maybe a reminder of why it's important for you to take your business blog seriously. 1. A business blog is a sure-fire way to get found by people searching for your product or service. Search engines index blogs more frequently than static websites. 2. A blog shows your personality, your expertise, and your character; people will hire or buy from you when they feel they trust and like you. 3. A blog showcases your business in a way a website cannot, and is a fast way to get noticed by other people in your field, leading to joint ventures and affiliations. 4. A blog expands your global reach, pulling in qualified prospects you would never have reached before. 5. A blog allows you to interact with readers, get feedback, introduce them to your ideas, and builds relationships, creating customer evangelists who will spread the word about you. In spite of these great marketing advantages that can result when publishing a blog, many business owners and entrepreneurs hesitate and procrastinate. Why? Here are some common reasons: - I won?t know what to write about - I don?t want to share my personal life - I don?t have time to learn another web application - My children use blogs; my colleagues don?t - Why would anyone want to read about my business? - I?m not sure it will bring a sufficient return on investment Many are mislead into thinking a blog is primarily a personal online diary, or for political rants, or for young adults and kids. What we're advocating is a Business Blog: one used for creating relationships with prospects, showcasing your expertise, and making it easy for customers and clients to find you and your business. When used by savvy professionals a business blog increases the likelihood of getting found on the Internet, and helps create credibility and trust like no other online tool. Blogs are easy to learn, do not require tech skills, and cost only a few dollars a month. Most professionals can learn to set one up in a couple of hours. Writing and finding material to write about requires 20-40 minutes a day. Or, you can hire a professional to set a blog up for you and train you how to use it effectively for your business. Then you spend your time and energy writing short posts, or articles. World-wide, there are over a billion people using the Internet and that number is growing rapidly. In the US, blog readers are more educated and spend more money online than do non-blog readers. Does it makes sense to have a blog for your business? We may be biased, but based on our experience, blogs are a terrific tool to help you attract, engage, and inform an audience that wants what you've got. It's time to get started now.

5 Essential Ingredients of a Successful Online Work at Home Busines

by: stan tomaszewski The internet changes daily as far as what works and what doesn't when it comes to making money online. If you are new to work at home online businesses, your head can spin with all the hype, sales pitches , and outright lies as far as the reality of starting up an online home based business. There are however a few things to look for in your search for a work at home business that can become some nice additional income, or even better, your "job". Working at home, generating $1000 a day is far from what I call a "job". To help ease your frustration, and point you in the right direction for what you should be looking for in today's online marketplace, the following summarizes the 5 essential ingredients in a winning work at home online business opportunity. Later in this brief overview, I will offer a "secret" to online success that is rarely mentioned in the many articles written on the subject. 1. SYSTEM- This may be the most crucial item to your success. You need a System that generates prospects, educates them on your business opportunity, sorts and weeds out those that are not interested in your offer, then closes the sale at a conversion rate that ensures profitability. The System must be as automated as possible so you aren't spending hours cold calling or following up with people that are probably not interested, then trying to use your sales closing skills to make a sale. Think of the successful off line businesses such as McDonalds, Tim Hortons or Subway. Do you think they could duplicate those businesses all over the country, setting up new franchise owners to run these businesses, without a SYSTEM that works? 2. BIG Profits- This is important as the advertising needed to result in sales can be quite costly. For some $1000 price point business programs, it isn't unusual to spend $200, $400 or even $600 to make that $1000 sale. Of course, there are ways to also spend $0 in advertising, but the reality is advertising is often on the range where to make $1, you may need to spend $0.40. Your profit is still $0.60. Would you do that over and over if you had a automated system in place to make this happen? Big Profits allows enough profit so your advertising cost is well covered by your selling price. You can't do much advertising to make a profit on selling a $20 ebook for example. 3. Hot Products- Yes, the product must be tangible and have use and value. There are many new business opportunities that offer $75,000 or more worth of downloadable products that sell for $1000. That's pretty HOT, and full of value. Having a product that can be downloaded, means NO shipping. Now that is just way too easy. 4. Leads and Traffic- This is probably the most perplexing for most new work at home business owners. An online business will never make any money without a source of leads (prospects). The key to providing leads to an online business is they need to be targeted. This means you need to advertise to a niche market of people looking for exactly what your offers. Seems so simple a concept, but so may people struggle in building their prospect list. 5. Support and Training- as with any business start up, you need to learn your work at home online business program.Make sure that your business program has ample training and resources so you know exactly what to do to get those prospects to your System. This is not always easy to figure out when doing your due diligence on an offer. As a suggestion, make sure you ask for examples of where and how you will advertise. Also ask where will you get the wording for the ads,who will write the ad copy and the followup messages, what the conversion rates are for your system. If your sponsor can't provide good answers, then they may not be that successful themselves. This is just a brief overview of what today's online business programs need to cut through the many offers out there and make your business stand out to others. Earlier I mentioned I'd offer a "secret" to successful online work at home business programs that is rarely mentioned in the various sales pitches. The true secret just might be you. Most people do not realize they are starting up a real business. There will be ups and downs, profitability may not come overnight, or you may expect riches in the first few days. I am sure some people have had such success, but most starting out, very likely start with leads, no prior list of prospects, and a small advertising budget. You then need to make good decisions to leverage your sales to grow your business. The best way to accomplish an online business start up is with the very best automated SYSTEM. Then you can spend most of your time on advertising and growing your prospect list- leaving the rest to the system to close sales which will deliver you paying customers. Then you can train your new customers to do what you know how to do! For more information on automated systems, please take a look at our main business review website. Starting An Internet Business In As Little As Within Hours With These 9 Proven Secrets

by: Aaron Herman With the right guidance, an Internet business can start generating income almost immediately. A home internet business can be very successful for people who have the dedication, skills and patience to await agradual increase in business and income. There are several ways how an internet business can be started. However, no matter which internet business is being initiated, it won't make an impact at first. The start up costs for an internet home business are next to nothing compared to the offline world of business start ups. In fact it is a lot more simple to start and grow a business on the internet. Of course you need some knowledge to begin your internet home business enterprise. But you don't need a "Bacc" to do business on the web. All you need is some computer knowledge and some internet marketing basis and a good dose of determination. Here is some basic tips on how to start an internet home business. == 1.Write Your Business Goals == It is important to set goals and objectives and then take action to accomplish them. This will be your Business Plan. Here Are Some questions you should ask yourself: - Why do I want to start up an Internet Home Business? - What product or service can I provide? - Do I have the knowledge and expertise to provide this service? - Do I know enough about the competition? - Where will my customers come from? Take the time to write down your questions and answers and thoroughly research your chosen market. == 2. Choose A Product or Service To Sell == On the internet you can find hundreds of product or services to sell. You can sell your own product by creating your own, or purchasing resale rights or being an affiliate with a good internet company. Don't put your personal gains first. Make sure that the product will deliver what it promises. When you promote a product that leaves the buyer dissatisfied, you' ll only be ruining your business. So sell solutions and the money will come. == 3. Business Domain Name == One important first step is to choose the best domain name you can. Keep it as short and simple as possible. Think of domain name like " Google " or " Yahoo ". They are short and easy to remember. I know that some people say to use keyword in you're domain name. But if you choose " Internet Business " there is million of site with this term. So are you going to use for example "AprofitableInternethomebusiness.com" it might be a nice name but it is too long and not simple. == 4. Your Business Web Site == Having A good business website is essential to succeed with an internet home business. Here is the thing you have to plan to build your website A) Decide on the website design (color schemes, buttons, special effects etc). However, you may have a preference for a certain color or look. To help you choose a design, you may wish to check out other people's websites or work with your web designer's pre-set templates. (b) The content. There are many items you may wish to include on your website. The most common ones include: 1 Products And Services 2. Contact Information 3. Pricing 4. Testimonials 5. Frequently Asked Questions 6. Resources & Articles 7. Refund Policy 8. Privacy Policy 9. About Us 10. Site Map 11. Useful Links 12. On-line store == 5. Choose a Web Hosting Company == What is a Web hosting Company? A Web host is a company that provides server space for your website. You can think of a web host as a commercial building. The web host provides space for your website just as a commercial building provides space for your shop or office. What are some of the things you should look for when choosing a web host? The criteria for choosing a free web host and a commercial web hosting solution are slightly different although they do overlap. A) Web Space Does it have enough space for your needs? If you envisage that you will expand your site eventually, you might want to cater for future expansion. Most sites use less than 5MB of web space. Indeed, at one time, one of my other web sites, thefreecountry.com, used less than 5MB of space although it had about 150 pages on the site. Your needs will vary, depending on how many pictures your pages use, whether you need sound files, video clips, etc. B) Bandwidth allotment Nowadays, many free web hosts impose a limit on the amount of traffic your website can use per day and per month. This means that if the pages (and graphic images) on your site is loaded by visitors beyond a certain number of times per day (or per month), the web host will disable your web site (or perhaps send you a bill). It is difficult to recommend a specific minimum amount of bandwidth, since it depends on how you design your site, your target audience, and the number of visitors you're able to attract to your site. In general, 100MB traffic per month is too little for anything other than your personal home page and 1-3GB traffic per month is usually adequate for a simple site just starting out. Your mileage, however, will vary. C) Reliability and speed of access This is extremely important. A site that is frequently down will lose a lot of visitors. If someone finds your site on the search engine, and he tries to access it but find that it is down, he'll simply go down the list to find another site. Slow access is also very frustrating for visitors (and for you too, when you upload your site). How do you know if a host is reliable or fast? If you can't get feedback from anyone, one way is to try it out yourself over a period of time, both during peak as well as non-peak hours. After all, it is free, so you can always experiment with it. == 6. Shopping Cart == No e-commerce website is complete without a secure shopping cart. There are many shopping cart options. Many e-commerce business owners make the mistake of using Pay Pal to accept payments, which immediately tells visitors that their company is very small and not professional. A good alternative to Pay Pal is a remotely hosted shopping cart. Remote shopping carts take the burden of maintaining security and credit card numbers off your shoulder and places the responsibility on another company. Remote shopping carts can usually be configured to look similar to your website. In fact, your customers may not realize that they have left your website to place an order. The remote shopping cart provider will give you the HTML to add to your website. When your potential customer clicks on the Buy Now button, he or she is taken to the remote shopping cart to enter the personal information and payment details. Depending on your choice of a shopping cart, you may or may not need a merchant account to process transactions. Some shopping cart services allow you to use their merchant accounts for a slightly higher fee. == 7. How To Promote Your Business Website == Write An Article: Write an article promoting your site or product. Write an article on a hot topic many people would like more information on and submit it to various e-zines. How do you find out what's hot? Visit a few of the message boards and see what questions are raised often. Search Engines: Thousands of search engines exist on the Internet. But, you should only be concerned with the top eight or ten. You should manually submit to the top eight: Alta Vista, Excite, Yahoo, Hotbot, Lycos, Northern Light, Infoseek, Webcrawler, and use one of the FREE automatic submission services like *SubmitPlus* to handle the smaller search engines. Directories: List your site here too. Directories organize sites into categories. Good examples of Directories: Yahoo, Magellan. Ezine Listings: If you have an e-zine to promote along with your site. Why not list it with one of the many e-zine services on the Internet. E-zine Library is a good one to start with. Free Classifieds: You will have to submit to a ton of FREE classifieds to get any significant traffic. Why? You are competing with thousands of other Ads. Remember to work on your Ad copy and make it attention grabbing. Go to one of the popular search engines, type in Free Classifieds, and surf to the top 20 classified sites for beginners. Often, these sites will lead you to several other Free Classified Sites. In response you'll get a stack of e-mail thanking you for listing your site while barking their promo. Best to get one of those free email accounts. Hot mail is a good one. So is Yahoo mail. FFA Pages. Free For All's are worth a try. Be prepared for a avalanche of e-mails from FFA web site owners. If your title is attention grabbing you will get a few clicks. Good Attention grabbing headlines, FREE, Limited Time, Limited Offer, Proven, Secrets, and many more if you brainstorm. Check out the sales literature delivered to you by regular mail. Check and see what headlines grab your attention. And why? Incorporate them into your Online Ads. Tell Friends And Family: If your friends, family, acquaintances, have an Internet Connection, e-mail them telling them about your new website, and ask them to visit often. Offer a FREE incentive if they tell a few friends to surf over. Perhaps, a FREE Ad in your e-zine. Leave Business Cards or Flyers: Leave these promo pieces with small businesses in your community. All relevant contact information; email address, URL, telephone number, should be included. Offer a freebie to anyone who visits your site. A free e-book, report. == 8. TRACK YOUR MARKETING == Here are some questions to consider: 1) How many unique visitors come to your website? 2) How many visitors opt-in to your mailing list or order your products? 3) When you send emails, how many are opened and how many people actually click through to your website? The reason these question are so important is because if you don't know these stats, you won't know what to improve. It could be different things; like your headlines, the content or navigation on your website. You won't know until you start checking all your marketing offer. == 9. YOUR BUSINESS IN CONCLUSION == Think of your first six months primarily as a training period. Don't expect large earnings until after you've educated yourself. Even the most dynamic, highest-earning entrepreneurs in the industry took MONTHS to begin seeing an income of any real significance with their internet home business. Don't be a negative thinker and don't let the negative attitudes of others (even if they're family members, friends, or peers) influence you. All the great men and women in history had to overcome the naysayers who said it couldn't be done and then went out and did it. Think for yourself! As long as you think positive and focused on your internet home business target you re on the right way to a rich life, which is directed by you and it will lead you to tremendous success and personnal satisfaction. Building an Internet business can be very rewarding when you start making money online out of the comforts of your own home. If you've always wanted to be self-employed and be your own boss. Then having an internet business will open this up for you. You just need to work on it

Secret Search Engine Optimization Strategies: How to Turn Keywords into Conversions

by: Derek Gehl Are you focusing your search engine optimization efforts on getting tons of traffic from the search engines? If you answered yes, then I am about to tell you something completely different from other Internet Marketers. Forget about getting tons of traffic from the search engines. Get LESS traffic that converts MORE! The Secret to Turning Keywords into Conversions is to Keep Your Keywords Focused For example, if your site sells an all-natural remedy for acid stomach problems... You start to do your keyword research and you discover that the keyword phrase "natural remedies" has 288 daily searches. But it has over 2,000,000 sites competing for it. While the phrase, "acid reflux natural remedies" has 67 daily searches with just over 11,000 competing sites. Do you want to spend all your time and effort trying to optimize your website for the first keyword phrase? You may get more searches, but you'll never know how many of those searchers want to buy your stomach acid remedy. Not to mention the HUGE number of competitors the keyword has! Or would you go for the second term, which only has 67 people searching for it -- knowing those 67 people are looking for EXACTLY what you offer? And, it has a MUCH lower competition number to boot! Obviously, the second term is better! Sure, you might get less traffic -- but the visitors you DO get will be MUCH more likely to buy your product. Why You Will Make More Money with Less Traffic That Converts More People search the Internet to find a solution to a problem and not necessarily to buy something. So what problems will they solve by coming to your website? Think of a keyword as a "problem statement" that someone would type into the search engines. When you can match your keywords to the exact problems they're trying to solve. You'll attract the BEST visitors to your site so you can focus all your optimization efforts on them! Here are some more keyword research tips that will help you turn keywords into conversions… Top Search Engine Optimization Tips for Finding Highly Focused Keywords That Will Bring the Absolute Best Buyers to Your Website: Check your server logs. See what keyword phrases people are actually using to find your site. If there's something relevant that you've overlooked, build a page focused on that keyword phrase. Also look for keywords that are causing people to leave right away because they're not finding what they're looking for. Ditch those keywords immediately. Look for "intention." Say you sell cross-country ski equipment. People can come to your website looking for different things. For instance: They're looking to buy a specific product They're looking for product reviews They want information on how to get started in cross-country skiing They want used or discount equipment They want to know what kind of equipment will be best for them They want to know what's new and hot in cross-country ski equipment Same products -- far different intentions! If you optimize a page (or pages) for each different problem people are trying to solve, you'll give them what they're looking for… That means they'll stay on your site longer -- and you'll have a better chance of getting them into the sales process. Check out your competition. What keywords are your competitors optimizing for, and on what pages? You can spy on them by going to their websites and looking at their code! In your web browser, just go to View on the main menu and click on Source or Page Source to "look under the hood" of any competitor's site. Then you can see what they're doing right and what you could do better. Find your best keywords with pay-per-click advertising. This is the fastest way to find out just how well different keywords perform. Pay-per-click lets you run ads based on two or three different keywords at the same time. This enables you can track which ones convert best. Make sure the ads click through to pages that relate directly to the keywords. Focus your SEO efforts on the specific keywords that describe EXACTLY what problem each page solves. Don't be tempted by more general keywords with higher traffic numbers. They'll never send you the traffic you want. Follow these search engine optimization tips and you will turn keywords into conversions. 4 Things Affiliate Marketers Need

by: Tabitha Palmer Here's my response, along with some information on what it takes to be successful as an affiliate marketer and tips on how to make affiliate marketing work for you as an online home business. You may not think that having a home business provides as much security, but you won't get laid off and you won't be called back into the office, and you should almost always get along with the Boss. In my mind, all of this makes the idea of starting a home business all the more appealing. There are thousands of work at home jobs and home business opportunities on the Internet. After a LOT of research, as well as plenty of trial and error, I have learned some very important things to look for in home businesses, work at home jobs, affiliate programs and all the other types of work at home business opportunities. My preferred niche is in affiliate marketing, this vs. traditional marketing is by far easier and more lucrative in the long run. You can build a higher residual and passive income this way. My opinion, of course, but try it out for yourself and see that I know what I am talking about. Useful Tips 1) Starting a successful online business begins with research. Look into every aspect of your business, Are you going to need inventory, storage, up front money? Websites, domains, and hosts are very important factors in research! The wrong web host and you are doomed from the beginning*. Write it all down so you can look back from time to time. Research your niche, by that I mean what kind of business would best suit you and your needs. What are you good at? Think about this question before you go any further and write down your answers so you can research them. 2) Websites, domains, and web hosts are crucial in your success. Like I said above*, Most Internet businesses, that have a drive to succeed, focus all of their time and resources on building a great site, and then trying to drive tons of traffic to that site. I recommend staying away from Free web hosting for a business , Most free hosting has drawbacks such as they reserve the right to place ads of all kinds on your site, this looks very unprofessional and will make you lose business in the long run, so beware, free isn’t always good. Check out reviews on the host of your choice to make sure they have good credibility standards on the internet. I personally recommend Host 4 Profit as they have always had great customer service, and they, to my knowledge, are rarely if ever down like some hosts I’ve ran across in the past. Anyway, research this one immensely. 3) One of the biggest key factors in building a successful online business is traffic. Only after you have chosen the right name and host for your business should you move to this step. There are many Free ways to get traffic on the web; Articles, blogs, free advertising sites there are plenty of, traffic exchanges like Traffic Swarm, Traffic G, etc. Making sure you get enough backlinks to your site makes the Big difference. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN will not pick you up if they can’t find you. Make your website available to be found by getting your link on everything you can, but always staying within the rules of advertising, otherwise you do more damage than good to your business. If you have NO traffic, you have NO sales. No sales equals No Business. You see the effect here. 4) Perseverance, it’s not something you can find online it’s something you have to find within. I know you’re thinking now why did I put that in there. Perseverance is what you will need most when you start and try to maintain an affiliate marketing online business. When you work at home you get to set your own hours and granted you can even work while still in your PJ’s but at home there are constant distractions to stop you from staying on task. Someone will stop by, the kids will start fighting, emergencies arise, the phone never stops ringing, etc… You name it, it will be sure to happen. This is why perseverance is in my top 10 tips to maintain a successful online business. You must make it a point every night before going to bed to make a ‘to do’ list for the next day concerning your business. This strategy has helped me most of all and it keeps me on task. Quote of the Day: "Any Statement made after the phrase 'I AM' has power, whether positive or negative, it will have power" To Your Success and Happiness In your NEW Life!

Guaranteed Extra Cash Online

by: Peter V. Ruble For college students and other people who feel burned out trying to balance paying the bills and living at the same time, ads like these can prove to be irresistible. Many of them make perfect sense and easily hook you based on good concepts. Unfortunately, many times the product or service does not match the brilliance of a great idea for making money from home or through the Internet. As I’ve learned myself, the further you go down this road, the more excited you get. You basically get hooked, and if you aren’t careful, you will end up working hard and falling further into debt than you can imagine. Much like gambling, the lure of easy money and independence can make just about anyone fall prey to work at home scams that feed off your dreams to get to your wallet so they can go on to the next victim. Hopefully, you will never fall victim to these scam artists. However, the fact of the matter is that these scammers would not be wasting their time if they were not making any money. And as long as people continue to get mixed up in this business, these scammers are going to stick around to trick more and more people. The best way to keep a scammer’s claws away from your credit card is to do thorough research on each opportunity that you are considering. This means doing much more than simply reading a bit about it online. In my personal experience, I have been taken by companies who were savvy enough to pollute the Internet with staged testimonials, guarantees, questionable references to big name endorsements, and even appearances in the Better Business Bureau. A colleague of mine who invested in vending machine placement services even went so far as to physically go to the manufacturing plant to tour the warehouse as well as contact the Better Business Bureau of that state. What he received, in return, were twenty malfunctioning candy machines with a list of local businesses who had apparently agreed to receive them. Not only did none of these businesses know what he was talking about, many of them were hostile when he showed up to place them. What you want to do is check message boards such as the ASK section of Yahoo.com. Another simple method of weeding out the scams from the genuine opportunities is to go to a search engine and simply type in the company name followed by the word “scam”. If you do this, and you are barraged by an endless list of complaints, you my friend have found a nugget of gold in a sea of mud. In terms of the Better Business Bureau, it is best to contact them directly to ask about any complaints, and also find out how long a company has been listed. The Better Business Bureau operates state by state. They will be able to tell you if they have any complaints on file. If they do, you will want to avoid the opportunity at all costs. But if it appears that a company is doing business the right way, you can continue your own research. Being in the Business Bureau is not necessarily that hard to accomplish. Many scammers can use their money and connections to set up a front to initially qualify for the Better Business Bureau just long enough for them to collect their cash from unsuspecting victims, close shop, create a new identity and start again. Before you decide to do anything, attempt to get in touch with the company that you are interested in. Can you get a human being on the phone? Do they have an actually physical address? How long does it take them to respond to your e-mails, if at all? If you cannot even talk to the company before you start, there is not chance that they will be around when you really need them. I once made quite a bit of money selling vacation vouchers on auction sites. The marketing plan was sound, and the money saving vouchers was a hit. Only problem was, I could never get in touch with their customer service department to handle my customer inquiries and complaints once I realized that the promises that existed in writing on the vouchers were misleading at best. This proved to be such a problem that it took me over a year to recover from the negative publicity on my auction site. Of course, there are legitimate home based businesses out there. With the Internet and all the low cost, web producing tools available, there seems to be a renaissance in entrepreneurship. Basically, just find a product or service you can market online, and do your research. Sell on EBay if you don’t want to build your own website. You can have a website their and all search engine marketing is already done by EBay. The Small Business Association has an office in downtown Tacoma and contains invaluable information on their website http://www.sba.com. Since small business is the backbone of our country economically, sources such as these are eager to help you create a plan with realistic expectations. However, like anything else worthwhile, you have to do your homework and work hard at it. The problem is that too many people make you think you can practically go online and make money just clicking on a mouse. You want to steer clear of any business that asks to you to pay for their “Top Secret” e-book that will teach you how to make an automated income.” Think about it, if you are in dire need of cash, can you imagine any other situation in which you would not only work for free, but pay for the privilege to work. There are no magic formals or secrets worth paying for. All of the information in these e-books can be found for free through your own research if you have common internet skills. If you don’t want to work hard and just make a few easy extra bucks without donating your blood or volunteering to be a guinea pig, it is possible to make some good extra money filling out online surveys or through mystery shopping. There are real opportunities out there which require no fee to get started. Not only that, several of them will even give you a $5 bonus just for signing up. If a company such as this is legitimate, they would be making lots of money through the success of its members. Companies that require that $49.97 start up fee only make money through the fee and only want to teach you how to get other people to do the same. The products are all useless lists and general information that anyone with a functioning mind could figure out on their own, or get for free by doing their own research. In 12 years of trying to make a living on the Internet, the following are the best companies I have ever encountered for making a few extra bucks filling out surveys, playing games and mystery shopping. They probably won’t pay the rent, but if you’re interested in making an extra $400 or $500 a month or eating out at nice restaurants and going to movies for free, you may want to check these out: Mystery Shopping Providers Association: ." target=new>http://www.mysteryshop.org/shoppers/">. This site contains all the information you will ever need on starting up as a mystery shopper. It is also a portal for the best sites to go to for mystery shopping jobs online, and they don’t require that you invest a penny. InboxDollars.com. (you can sign up for free and get $5 just for signing up. You can make a few hundred dollars in one day, theoretically, if you are willing to use a credit card to sign up for free or paid trials. Just make sure you have the patience to fill out the long surveys and keep detailed records so you can remember to cancel your free trials before you get charged. Also, you can fill out surveys to make a dollar or two which are completely free. I’ve made about $400 with this site. http://www..sendearnings.com.(almost identical to InboxDollars.com) http://www.treasuretrooper.com. (a lot of free surveys and cool games). http://www.tiktikcash.com. By far the best of the survey sites. The free surveys are tremendous. You can make a dollar or two in one minute. This site has the shortest, most painless surveys. I made over thirty bucks in less than after signing up.

Effective Internet Advertising

by: Tsuyoshi Suzuki Free internet advertising is one very important method for promoting your products and services to thousands of free ads. You've probably found this article because you did a search for "free advertising" on an internet search engine. If you have taken the time to research search engine placement, methods of obtaining a high search engine ranking, or Internet advertising, you have probably heard of Google Adwords. Two of the most popular and successful advertising techniques on the Internet are pay per click campaigns and natural search engine optimization campaigns. If your company is not competing at the level it should be, perhaps it is time you looked into focusing more of your time and efforts into Internet advertising techniques that are successful. You will not only get the best results with a carefully designed system for generating Internet advertising for your blog, but you will also be able to sustain good results over a long period of time, which is what serious business and successful entrepreneurship is all about. With a good well designed selling system in place, not only will you be able to get the best results while generating Internet advertising for your blog, but success will be virtually guaranteed. This difference with blog advertising rates is important because in the print media world, ad rates can not go below a certain point because if they do, the publication will cease to be profitable. In the print media, space is limited by the cost of production which keeps ad rates high and makes the balance of content versus advertising critical to the financial success of any print publication that relies on advertising. Free internet advertising makes it easy for you to put free ads on several of the premier quality web sites whenever you want, for free. You know that you are visiting the forum merely for the free advertising for your website but it is better not to make this obvious if you want other members to react well to your advertising. Internet forum etiquette demands that you spend a little time "lurking" ie logging in at the forum and reading previous and current threads before you even think of starting to use the forum for advertising. Whether you write your own articles or pay a ghostwriter to write your articles for you, the combined cost of creating and distributing your article is far less than the value of advertising that you will receive in exchange for the reprint use of your article. When you write articles that are consistent with the topics that your potential clientele will read, you are able to consistently target the people you need to reach with your advertising. If an advertiser is already paying 20 cents per click and your blog Internet advertising rate card charges them what works out to about 5 cents per click and there is a promise of the same or an even better conversion rate, you have won over that advertiser. I have been paying for traffic and one of the best sources of targeted traffic is through pay per click search engines (PPC) or pay for placement search alternatives like Google adwords or Yahoo Sponsor Listings, formerly Overture. Google adwords and Yahoo Sponsor Listings are the kings of pay per placement search engines. And if you are in a highly competitive niche, the cost per visitor in pay per click search engines is pumping up day by day. Internet Marketing can be thought as encompassing all of the following disciplines: search engine optimization, pay-per-click management, link building and affiliate marketing. Internet Marketing Companies work solely towards getting their client’s product or services marketed online, and this is really becoming something that modern businesses can’t live without. Obviously, an Internet marketing company can’t use the same techniques that a traditional advertising agency would use, such as television commercials and special promotions. The things that an Internet marketing company can do are pretty amazing, though, because the costs are fairly low and the results can potentially reach a global audience. The interactive nature of Internet marketing, which allows businesses to draw out an instant response from potential customers, is a unique quality of the medium. Internet marketing companies can bring creative and technical aspects together, including design, development, advertising and sales. Internet marketing methods include search engine optimization, pay per click management, display advertising, email marketing, interactive advertising, blog marketing, and viral marketing. The services that an Internet marketing Company offers aren’t always something tangible that people can see, although things like banner ads and social media marketing (using sites like MySpace) are quite visible. Things like search engine optimization and pay per click management are more intangible, but they help promote a website by placing it where people will see it when they are looking for that type of product or service. Internet marketing companies grow and promote an organization using online media. An Internet marketing company does not simply build a website or promote a website… They make that website visible to people who are likely to become real paying customers. For some reasons, people are making easier ways of advertising their products and news through the Internet because of its lower cost and its effectiveness. Consumers can see the products and massive orders and requests could be in any instant on line with the company which provides the products. An online marketing campaign is necessary these days with the Internet become bigger and bigger by the day. Therefore, it is crucial to hire an effective Internet marketing company to help your business achieve the online results you are looking for. Since the advent of the World Wide Web, there have been many new evolutions to online marketing. Thankfully, there are many Internet marketing companies that can show you the ropes about the industry so that you can capitalize with your online venture. There is a wide variety of items that a quality Internet marketing company can provide to your business. One of the main sources of online marketing is in search engine optimization, commonly referred to as SEO. This process simply refers to the act of ensuring that your website appears in the top of the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. This is achieved by submitting articles and keyword phrases all over the Internet because the more links that your website has on the Net, the higher your search engine ranking will be. Since most customers will choose to use the services of a company that is among the top ten in the search engines, SEO can work wonders for your online venture. However, an Internet marketing company also has many other services that can benefit your business. Many of these particular companies also provide website designing and graphic design help that will make your website much more appealing to the public. If you search hard enough, you will be able to find a quality company that will produce your website from the ground up and then use SEO to ensure that your site gets the recognition it deserves.

How To Write A Successful Business Plan

Whether you are planning to start a brand-new business, expand an existing company, or get financing for a business venture, you will need to write a business plan. A business plan not only lends your business a sense of credibility, but also helps you to cover all your bases, increasing your chances of success. Although writing a business plan can be a lengthy, intimidating project, it is not necessarily difficult. Here is an overview of how to write a successful business plan. What to Include in Your Business Plan Your business plan needs to demonstrate that you have thoroughly considered all aspects of running your business. To that end, the standard business plan has nine major sections, covering everything from your business’s mission statement to a detailed financial analysis. Executive Summary The first – and most important – section of your business plan is the executive summary. This section is so important that it should literally be the first thing the reader sees – even before the table of contents! However, it should also be written last, as you’ll have a better understanding of the overall message of your business plan after you’ve researched and written the other sections. One of the most important parts of the executive summary is the mission statement. The mission statement is only three or four sentences long, but it should pack the most punch out of everything else in your business plan: Those four sentences are responsible for not only defining your business, but also capturing the interest of your reader. The rest of your executive summary should fill in the important details that the mission statement glosses over. For instance, your executive summary should include a short history of the business, including founder profiles and start date; a current snapshot, listing locations, numbers of employees, and products or services offered; and a summary of future plans and goals. This section is a candidate for a bulleted format, which allows you to list main points in a manner that is easy to scan. Avoid using too much detail – remember, this section is a summary. A page or two is usually sufficient for an executive summary. Market Analysis The next section of your business plan focuses on market analysis. In order to show that your business has a reasonable chance for success, you will need to thoroughly research the industry and the market you intend to sell to. No bank or investor is going to back a doomed venture, so this section is sure to fall under especially close scrutiny if you are looking for financing. Your market analysis should describe your industry, including the size, growth rate, and trends that could affect the industry. This section should also describe your target market – that is, the type or group of customers that your company intends to serve. The description of your target market should include detail such as: • Distinguishing characteristics • The needs your company or product line will meet • What media and/or marketing methods you’ll use to reach them • What percentage of your target market you expect to be able to wrest away from your competitors In addition, your market analysis should include the results of any market tests you have done, and an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of your competitors. Company Description After your market analysis, your business plan will need to include a description of your company. This section should describe: • The nature of your business • The needs of the market • How your business will meet these needs • Your target market, including specific individuals and/or organizations • The factors that set you apart from your competition and make you likely to succeed Although some of these things overlap with the previous section, they are still necessary parts of your company description. Each section of your business plan should have the ability to stand on its own if need be. In other words, the company description should thoroughly describe your company, even if certain aspects are covered in other sections. Organization and Management Once you have described the nature and purpose of your company, you will need to explain your staff setup. This section should include: • The division of labor – how company processes are divided among the staff • The management hierarchy • Profiles of the company’s owner(s), management personnel, and the Board of Directors • Employee incentives, such as salary, benefits packages, and bonuses This goal of this section is to demonstrate not only good organization within the company, but also the ability to create loyalty in your employees. Long-term employees minimize human resource costs and increase a business’s chances for success, so banks and investors will want to see that you have an effective system in place for maintaining your staff. Marketing and Sales Management The purpose of the marketing and sales section of your business plan is to outline your strategies for marketing your products or services. This section also plans for company growth by describing how the growth could take place. The section should describe your company’s: • Marketing methods • Distributions methods • Type of sales force • Sales activities • Growth strategies Product or Services Following the marketing section of your business plan, you will need a section focusing on the product or services your business offers. This is more than a simple description of your product or services, though. You will also need to include: • The specific benefits your product or service offers customers • The specific needs of the market, and how your product will meet them • The advantages your product has over your competitors • Any copyright, trade secret, or patent information pertaining to your product • Where any new products or services are in the research and development process • Current industry research that you could use in the development of products and services Funding Request Only once you have described your business from head to toe are you ready to detail your funding needs. This section should include everything a bank or investor needs in order to understand what type of funding you want: • How much money you need now • How much money you think you will need over the next five years • How the money you borrow will be used • How long you will need funding • What type of funding you want (i.e. loans, investors, etc.) • Any other terms you want the funding arrangement to include Financials The financials section in your business plan supports your request for outside funding. This section provides an analysis of your company’s prospective financial success. The section also details your company’s financial track record for the past three to five years, unless you are seeking financing for a startup business. The financials section should include: • Company income statements for prior years • Balance sheets for prior years • Cash flow statements for prior years • Forecasted company income statements • Forecasted balance sheets • Forecasted cash flow statements • Projections for the next five years – every month or quarter for the first year, with longer intervals for the remaining years • Collateral you can use to secure a loan The financials section is a great place to include visuals such as graphs, particularly if you predict a positive trend in your projected financials. A graph allows the reader to quickly take in this information, and may do a better job of encouraging a bank or investor to finance your business. However, be sure that the amount of financing you are requesting is in keeping with your projected financials – no matter how impressive your projections are, if you are asking for more money than is warranted, no bank or investor will give it to you. Appendices The appendix is the final section in your business plan. Essentially, this is where you put all of the information that doesn’t fit in the other eight sections, but that someone – particularly a bank or investor – might need to see. For instance, the market analysis section of your business plan may list the results of market studies you have done as part of your market research. Rather than listing the details of the studies in that section, where they will appear cumbersome and detract from the flow of your business plan, you can provide this information in an appendix. Other information that should be relegated to an appendix includes: • Credit histories for both you and your business • Letters of reference • References that have bearing on your company and your product or service, such as magazines or books on the topic • Company licenses and patents • Copies of contracts, leases, and other legal documents • Resumes of your top managers • Names of business consultants, such as your accountant and attorney Writing a Successful Business Plan Despite the quantity of information contained in your business plan, it should be laid out in a format that is easy to read. Just like with any piece of business writing, it is important to craft your business plan with your intended audience in mind – and the bankers, investors, and other busy professionals who will read your business plan almost certainly won’t have time to read a tedious document with long-winded paragraphs and large blocks of text. Business plans for startup companies and company expansions are typically between twenty to forty pages long, but formatting actually accounts for a lot of this length. A strong business plan uses bullet points throughout to break up long sections and highlight its main points. Visuals such as tables and charts are also used to quickly relay specific information, such as trends in sales and other financial information. These techniques ensure that the reader can skim the business plan quickly and efficiently. Think of your audience as only having fifteen minutes to spend on each business plan that comes across their desks. In that fifteen minutes, you not only have to relay your most important points, but also convince the reader that your business venture merits a financial investment. Your best bet is a well-researched business plan, with an organized, easy-to-read format and clear, confident prose.

Internet Marketing Strategy Blogging 01

By Steve Renner | June 26, 2008

Here is Part 1 of a 2 Part Introductory Course On Blogging

The easiest way to get a web site up and running these days is with a Blog. Whatever your Internet Marketing Strategy is a Blog is the best place to start.

When Blogging first hit the web, it came on with a bang. Now, Blogging is one of the most popular formats for web sites and for communication on the web. Before Blogs, web surfers would simply browse through sites with preformatted text on them. There was very little chance for a surfer to comment on a site or to offer their opinion on anything. If a web surfer wanted to voice their opinion via the web, they had to start their own web site.

Starting a web site works for some surfers, but it is too complicated for most. In addition, starting a web site usually takes a small investment, which is something not everyone has to spend.

People today can find Blog sites that offer blog space for much less than a typical web site hosting. Many sites will offer blogs space for free like Blogger.com and Wordpress.org

When you begin a Blog, you will notice that they are all laid out basically the same way. Some experts will call their layout the last-in-first style. This is a very tricky name that simply notes that the last thing the person, or Blogger, wrote will show up at the top of the Blog. Most Blogging software allows for this automatically.

When you sign up at a blogging site and get your own blog space, you will likely see that after you finish typing your post and submit it, the blogging software will automatically put your last entry at the top of your Blog. This keeps your readers current without forcing them to scroll through many posts.

I would highly recommend you set your Blog up on your own web site. Wordpress is the software I recommend. There are a lot of reasons why, but trust me Wordpress is the one you want.

Oil rises above $142 on supply concerns, weak dollar

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Oil rose more than $1 a barrel on Wednesday, within sight of Monday's record high above $143 on forecasts that global supply will lag demand and expectations the European Central Bank will raise interest rates later this eek.

U.S. crude rose $1.24 to $142.21 a barrel by 0559 GMT (1:59 a.m. EDT), while London Brent crude gained $1.43 to $142.10.

The International Energy Agency on Tuesday cut its global oil supply capacity forecast by 2.7 million barrels per day (bpd) to 95.33 million bpd by 2012, boosting prices already lifted by tension between Iran and Israel.

Traders also bought crude on the weak dollar, which softened against the euro on Wednesday ahead of Thursday's European Central Bank meeting, which is widely expected to conclude an interest rate hike to deal with quickening euro zone inflation.

"The U.S. dollar is an each-way bet and will likely cause some volatility in prices," Mark Pervan, a senior commodities analyst at the Australian & New Zealand (ANZ) Bank, said in a research note.

"On balance, if Iran, Nigeria and Israel can stay out of the news for the rest of the week, traders should take profits," he added.

Oil hit a record $143.67 a barrel on Monday, taking its gains for the year to nearly 50 percent, in part due to concerns that tension between Israel and Iran could disrupt supply from the Middle East Gulf.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards had said it would impose controls on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz should the country be attacked. About 40 percent of all seaborne oil trade passes through the Strait, according to the U.S. EIA.

The U.S. State Department on Tuesday criticized comments by an unidentified senior U.S. defense official who told ABC News there was an increasing likelihood Israel would attack Iran over its nuclear program.

Adding to supply worries, OPEC President Chakib Khelil said the cartel did not have enough spare capacity to replace Iranian oil if Tehran were to cut exports due to an attack.

Traders will look out for U.S. oil inventories data later on Wednesday and the monthly U.S. employment report due on Thursday for further indications of the economic outlook for the world's top oil consumer.

"We can expect oil price fluctuations to be limited today and tomorrow as the market is awaiting stocks in the U.S. and payroll tomorrow," said Ryuichi Sato, a commodity analyst at Mizuho Corporate Bank.

Weekly U.S. oil inventory data is expected to show a 100,000-barrel fall in crude stocks, a 200,000-fall in gasoline stocks, and a 1.9-million-barrel build in distillates.

Interview with Larry Chase, Founder Of Web Digest For Marketers

by Rachelle Money, 26 June 2008 The Web Digest for Marketers has been in existence online for 13 years. At first Larry Chase, founder and editor of the newsletter, had just one topic to cover – online marketing – but as the industry went forth and multiplied, online marketing expanded to cover 52 different niches. Chase's staying power comes from his ability to explore these niches and create great content for his subscribers. Here he tells us everything there is to know about creating longevity through long tail content for newsletters. Key points Create a long tail newsletter. Use 'evergreen material' such as how tos and top tips which people are more likely to hold on to. Don't publish too often – people will feel bombarded if you are emailing newsletters every other day. Once fortnightly is regular enough. Choose advertising wisely – if it's phoney or looks cheesy this will reflect badly on you as a publisher. Tell bloggers where to find your content – make sure your newsletter lives in a permanent place so they can link to it. Larry Chase is the elder statesman of online marketing. He was so ahead of the game when he first established himself on the internet that it took the rest of the world two years to play catch up. In 1995, he launched the Web Digest for Marketers, and today it's still going strong with more than 47,000 subscribers. “Back in 1995 we had just one category – internet marketing – and now we have 52 categories with SEO, PPC, email marketing and social media. It went from one world to 52 worlds and so each week we have to cover a different segment of the marketing pie,” says Chase. Keyword Research Keyword research is his tool of choice and it enables him to tap into what people are searching for online, which in turn exposes the very niche content that has helped Chase stay a few steps ahead of the game. “When we want to know what people are interested in we use the Wordtracker tool. It tells us what's on people's minds and what kind of information they are searching for. “A few years ago I had an idea about thought leadership marketing and to make sure it wasn't just something in my head I found that a lot of people were searching for it - but that there wasn't a lot of content out there.” The broadening marketplace has of course meant that much of the niche readership he once had is now mainstream. Nowadays competition is hot which Chase believes has brought “a lot of chaos”. “Anyone can be a media maker and most people are,” he says. “Whether it's a blog, or they're on Twitter or Facebook or an email newsletter or a website, there are hundreds of millions of micromedia properties out there, and the core of my newsletter is to make order out of the chaos for internet marketers. That's really the secret of any great publication.” If you could win medals for staying power, Chase would be one of the most decorated marketers out there. He has witnessed the information overload we now live in and has used the expertise he's built up over the years to deliver the signal amongst the noise. “It's a bit of gut intuition planted in experience on what has come before. We help subscribers get perspective on what a particular tool, article, or website means to them.” Chase does just this in his fortnightly newsletter, Web Digest for Marketers, which is full of top tips and links to resources he's found on the net. Things like '12 essentials for building inbound links to your site' or '12 trends for the next three years for internet marketing' and in his latest newsletter, '12 tools, tactics and resources for social media marketing.' No News in Newsletters What is conspicuous by its absence however, is the lack of news on Chase's newsletter. “There are people who cover the news and then there are those who cover the news that's already been covered and that leads to a reverberation, which adds to the chaos - so we have to avoid that. “The problem with a lot of newsletters is that they have news in them, and it becomes redundant quickly. We don't, and this is what sets us apart.” Evergreen Content Chase says he chooses to publish what he calls “evergreen material” that will last for years and it's this material which has led to longer tails and more inbound links to his site. “We notice with the clickthroughs that the tail is getting longer and goes up to about a year. We have a few thousand inbound links and that's because they like the resource center and the content there.” Similar to Wordtracker, WDM invite guests to write content for their newsletter. “We get people who are deep in their game to write for us tips, tactics, resources and strategies, so that the reader can get the inside scoop on what the real deal is.” Chase says he also keeps a close eye on Trendpedia (a trend tracker) and Techmeme, which is a piece of software that scans the universe for blogs and articles to see what people are talking and writing about. “I also look at the search tool on my own site because people presumably come to the site to learn something about internet marketing, and in the search tool I can see what they're looking for. I also get an idea of who is looking because often people will search for their own name.” SEO In terms of search engine optimization, Chase says he “turned his website inside out” to make the content more search engine friendly. He explains: “We took reviews out of our site and into a paid archive and created a database for the reviews and called it an Internet Marketing Resource Centre. When you go to the site there are 52 categories so if you're looking for PPC or SEO or something else they are all listed in their appropriate category. “We organized it in such a way that it's all optimized. We use the content of previous newsletters for SEO and we organize it so that it's not just last week's issue, because that would be boring and confusing and hard for a visitor to locate what they're looking for. The search engines pick this up and we rank pretty high because of it.” While organizing his site Chase said it was crucial for him to think about what people are looking for. “People don't look for a newsletter on internet marketing, they look for customer retention marketing or search engine optimization, so they look for the categories first and then find our newsletter. “This is what we call lean in content, so people look at it and say 'oh this is good,' bookmark it or subscribe to it.” Advertising Other than subscriptions, Chase makes his money through online advertising on his newsletter and website. He talks at length about the pitfalls of accepting any advert just to get cash. “I tore up a $5,000 cheque for an advert because this particular company wanted you to fill out 23 fields of information and all you got at the end of it was a two-page sales sheet.” Chase said he didn't want to risk annoying his readers with this kind of ad. “If something looks bad, is cheesy or phoney then it will reflect badly on you and what will your subscribers do? They'll complain or unsubscribe. “I felt I couldn't risk my reputation by putting this kind of thing up on my site.” He said people have to remember that when they are creating a newsletter they are “building up a community based on trust.” Once your newsletter becomes a trusted resource for information, the number of inbound links you get will grow. But this presented Chase with some problems. Keeping the Bloggers Happy “We started getting complaints from bloggers,” he explains, “because they would link to our most recent newsletter tagged 'current.html' but of course as the new newsletter came out that would also be tagged 'current.html'. “We now put the newsletter into a permanent address so bloggers can link to it. If you have bloggers who like the content and want to link to it, tell them where it is, and make sure it will live there permanently.” Chase admits this is something he “should have learned years ago,” but then that's the great thing about being in a growing marketplace - it's always evolving and changing, and new problems and resolutions will present themselves along the way.
